WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND THIS DAY?
There are lots of good reasons - here are just a few:
* Professional learning events for those
involved in school canteens and feeding students are few and
far between. When an opportunity arises, you should grab it.
This is too good to miss!
* There are many changes occurring in the
supply of food for students, the products and information
available, and in government policies and initiatives to encourage
healthier eating. It is vitally important you are properly
and fully informed about all of these changes.
* Professional Development has immense benefits
for you and your school.
* You are entitled and expected to participate
in professional development as part of your employment conditions!
* You owe it to yourself and have a responsibility
to your students and to your school to request PD time out
and to organise your replacement so you can attend.
* If you are a paid canteen worker, the money
for the full costs of your training is already set aside.
5% of your salary must be budgeted for Professional Learning.
* There are very few opportunities for you
to use this PD money. This is one very good one!
* Your school must allow you paid time out
to attend Professional Learning events. You must be freed
from your normal duties and assisted and facilitated to enable
you to attend.
* There are 5 TRAVEL GRANTS (to the value
of up to $100 each) available for Victorian schools who attend
for the whole day from locations 200 km or more from the Melbourne
CBD. Thanks to Nichirei Australia for this generous financial
assistance for country school reps to attend.
* Great venue, free onsite parking, great
facilities, warm welcome. Snacks, hot drinks, samples included
in price. Optional extra: lunch packs available to order with
booking.
* This is a day with a GREAT PROGRAM for
those involved in school canteens and feeding school aged
children, along with those interested in healthier choices
for students - canteen staff, out of school hours carers,
home economics teachers, parents, volunteers, etc.
* The MORNING SEMINAR on "The Power of People
- striving, reviving and thriving" will be inspiring. Dr Judy
Esmond is internationally renowned for her work on volunteers,
and on people management. Judy also will be conducting a workshop
on "working with difficult people" - a topic with which most
of us can use a little help!
* This also is a great Professional Learning
opportunity for office staff and ESOs. Bring a team from your
school - canteen staff, business manager, office staff, OHSC
staff, parents, volunteers, etc.
* MORNING WORKSHOPS also cover canteen profitability,
food handling & allergens, and fresh fruit & vege preparation
ideas. Something for everyone!
* The AFTERNOON EXPO has approx 40 displays,
including 16 new companies. Many new "green" products this
year too! You most definitely cannot say "I went to one event
so I've seen it all"!
* Flexible registration - you can register
to attend for the whole day, or only for the morning or afternoon
sessions if you wish.
* Book online - anytime - 24 hour access
- via the link above. If you are unable to pay by credit card
OR would like to receive a tax invoice for your school to
pay for you to attend, please process your booking online
and enter INVOICE as the promotional code. You will receive
your tickets and venue information automatically, and VSCA
will send a tax invoice to your school for payment via your
school accounts.
* Booking date extended to Friday, 4 May.
You are not too late! There is still time for you to get organised!
PLENTY OF HAPPY MUNCHING FOR EVERYONE! WE WOULD
LOVE TO SEE YOU THERE!
