PICTURE THIS: you go into school on Monday to get the lunch orders ready, only to find that in the place where your canteen stood, fully stocked and ready to go for the new school year, there's just a pile of blackened rubble.

For those of us not directly affected, the February 2009 Victorian bushfires may be quickly fading from memory. But for those affected, the recovery process has barely begun. As schools face the daunting prospect of rebuilding, the staff and volunteers in school canteens are rolling up their sleeves and finding ways to continue feeding their school communities in spite of the loss of stock, equipment, and the devastation of their catering areas. Can you imagine how this would feel?

While many people and organisations have already donated generously to general appeals, VSCA has launched a VERY SPECIAL appeal - to raise funds for school canteens affected by this devastating natural disaster. As fellow school canteen people, we know you will do what you can to help school canteens, specifically, get back on their feet. VSCA is a registered fundraiser (Registered Fundraiser #9824). Administrative costs are being sponsored by VSCA Canteen Services to ensure that 100% of the proceeds will go to bushfire affected school canteens.
