"Echuca Secondary College and Echuca High School merged at
the start of 2006 to form Echuca College. Both schools have
two wonderful canteen managers, and have retained them thus
far into the merger. We would like to nominate one of the
Canteen Managers…who still has a smile on her face after coping
with a merge and moving from her canteen into a portable canteen.
Jeanette Fabry is the Canteen Manager at our College Drive
Campus. She is a master at feeding the hordes of students,
staff, builders and TAFE. We have three lunch specials per
week that meet all the healthy food guidelines, that include
lots of recipes including Lasagne, Shepard's Pie, Pastie Slice,
Baked Potatoes and the famous McFabry burger are 'home made'.
Jeanette also makes special morning teas for the office staff,
to die for muffins and cakes, as well as birthday cakes for
staff birthdays.
Nothing is too much trouble for Jeanette, catering for numerous
staff functions from 5 to 100 at very little notice. She is
willing to help out at school, staying behind to assist with
serving, or helping the local chaplaincy committee cater for
events. Her food would have to be the most delectable in Echuca
at the best prices.
In addition to her already outstanding catering ability,
she has had quite a lot of adversity, moving from a large
canteen into a portable canteen as part of the building program.
Throughout all the moving, packing and unpacking, she has
maintained the same service with great healthy food at a fantastic
price, all with a smile.
Jeanette has good support in the canteen with two fantastic
helpers as well as parent helpers who all allow her to continue
cooking up a storm in a canteen half the size. She also has
student helpers in the canteen who all enjoy working with
her immensely. She has a special Canteen Helpers party at
the end of each year to thank them for all the wonderful help
they provide her throughout the year.
Jeanette is an outstanding Canteen Manager and is very worthy
of this Award, for all the hard work she has put in over the
years. She works hard for the school providing quality healthy
food at great prices, always with a smile."
