"Maureen has been Canteen Manager at St Francis Xavier College
for the past 14 years but her association with the canteen
has been over a 20 year period as prior to this Maureen worked
in the school canteen as a parent volunteer when her three
sons attended the College.
Maureen has managed the canteen at a time when the College
has been through a rapid growth period to the present day
enrolment of 1840 students.
Maureen has maintained her efficient running of the canteen
while at the same time becoming a friend to many of the students
as well. She has gained the respect of the students and has
always maintained an orderly and well run organisation. The
students respond to her example by being polite and well mannered
when conversing with the parent volunteers in the canteen.
Maureen has also overseen the establishment of a second canteen
which was opened at our new junior campus in 2003.
On top of her demands with students, Maureen is often called
upon to prepare last minute special lunches for guests of
the Principal and other staff and there is never even a whisper
of complaint or a groan. Special catering for other meetings
and functions is also often organised through Maureen.
In 2007, Maureen was personally devastated with the loss
of her husband after many years of marriage, but after a short
break managed to return to her demanding role with the same
amount of enthusiasm that she has always shown.
This nomination is a secret one as Maureen is a very non-assuming
person and would be embarrassed to think there was any fuss
being made about her."
