"Pat Oliver is our voluntary canteen manager. Her grandchildren
previously attended our school and are now completing university
studies or their senior years at secondary college.
Pat volunteered to undertake the role of manager when our
previous volunteer manager resigned from the position. Pat
has filled this position for a number of years and is responsible
for training volunteer staff in food handling techniques,
ordering supplies, developing rosters and relief staff, and
all aspects of food service.
At the end of 2006, Pat spent a considerable period of time
in hospital undergoing a series of operations and a further
three months in rehabilitation. Throughout this period of
time Pat liaised with the acting voluntary manager and the
Principal to ensure that the canteen could continue to operate
effectively.
Pat is well regarded by students, staff and parents as her
dedication and commitment to our school are outstanding.
Despite her continuing problems with her health and her increasing
age - she will be 71 later this year - Pat has once again
indicated her willingness to undertake the role of voluntary
manager in 2008.
Pat would be a very deserving recipient of a 'Canteen Manager
of the Year' award."
