"We, as a school community, take great pleasure in nominating
Mrs Helen Grant as the 2006 VSCA School Canteen Manager of
the Year in a P-10 school. Helen commenced working in our
canteen in January 2006 and has been instrumental in successfully
revitalising it. Helen had the foresight and confidence to
visit each class to educate the students about healthy eating
and nutrition. As a follow up, she provided food tastings
of what was on offer in the canteen. One example is the "spiralled
apple" seeing apple sales soar from 6 per week to 268 apples
sold in the first promotional week. Despite overall sales
in the canteen sky-rocketting, our school values Helen's prioritising
healthy food versus profit. Helen has significantly enhanced
the variety and presentation of tasty food on offer for our
school community and serves as a valued member of Trinity
Lutheran College."
