"The dictionary definition of the word volunteer is a person who offers to do something or who undertakes work on a voluntary basis.

"However, these words are inadequate when it comes to describing our Mums. I think the words: dedicated, wonderful, delightful and hardworking are a more apt description. Many of our mothers already have jobs yet they still volunteer for canteen duty.

"Not only do the mums I have nominated help in the canteen, they also happily put their hands up for many other projects we organise.

"I am sure every time I come up with an idea, they must think, here she goes again ...; but without a moment's hesitation, they respond with a smile and say no worries, we can do that!

"I think the school is privileged to have mums who are so dedicated to the school and are so willing to help out. So I think these mums should be awarded the title of Helper of the Year."

- Heather McMillan, Canteen Manager & Annie Loft, Assistant Manager
